PhotoAs seen in his Curriculum Vitae, Baritone Louis Manikas, winner of the prestigious “Maria Callas” Scholarship, has studied with some of the world's greatest opera singers, namely Milto Vithino, Charalabo Papalabrou, Eugenie Ludwig, Mario del Monaco, Luigi Ricci (see Repertoire) and Tito Gobbi (video), with whom he studied and worked for 12 years in many operatic productions, performing such leading roles as Falstaff, Jago and Scarpia to name but a few.

Louis Manikas has earned success in an international career, known for his wide range of operatic major roles in opera theatres around the world. His repertoire extends from Verdi and Puccini to Wagner, Strauss and Stravinsky among many others.

In addition to his international career, he has hosted seminars on Breathing & Voice Technique as visiting professor at Music Departments around the world:
  • Japan: Mukogawa University, University of Art in Osaka & University of Art in Kyoto
  • Germany: Hochschule für Musik Stuttgart, Weikersheim Festival “Jeunesses Musicales” (Music Preparation of Falstaff)
  • Lithuania: Vilnius Music Academy
  • Ukraine: Odessa Music University
  • Finland: Artistic Director of Operastudio ry (Espoo Finland) where he has been teaching since 1999
  • DPD Korea, Pyongyang: “Spring Festival” International Cultural Center
  • Greece: University of Patras, Athens Conservatoire and Greek National Opera
From his many years of extensive vocal training and performance experience, Louis Manikas has mastered Vocal Technique to such a degree that he intuitively understands how a prospective singer may improve their breathing and voice so as to produce well-supported and beautiful singing. Many international singers with vocal technique problems consult him, finding resolution to a wide variety of singing challenges. Through his ongoing research and in-depth analysis of Vocal Technique, he enthusiastically provides his advice via tutorial sessions and seminars, both in person as well as on Skype at louismanikas.
